Portraits of New York
It was an absolute pleasure interviewing Mr. Bobby X Spartan from "Portraits of New York." An eloquent, soft spoken individual, with the heart of a true New Yorker. This short doc was quite a challenge. Filmed, edited and presented at B&H in less than a day, if you exclude hours of panic looking for a subject, b-roll in what can only be described as biblical rain, and the fact that I was all alone. The line Bobby spoke during our interview "Whether I remember or not, I will always be reminded" holds true to me as an artist of the gift of capturing time. Moments forever alive through storytelling. The biggest challenge was stepping away from the abundance of coverage I am use to getting and just sitting, waiting for that one pure moment.
